New unit has 12 dialysis machines

Health Minister Petros Petrides on Wednesday officially opened a new dialysis unit at Nicosia General Hospital.

In his short speech, Petrides said it was a blessing and joy to inaugurate new medical facilities like the new dialysis unit.

The new unit, the minister said, has 12 dialysis machines and its operation will contribute greatly to offer the best service for patients suffering from kidney disorders and to decongest the current unit.
“Today’s event would not have been possible with the contribution of betting company OPAP Cyprus and PAP Medical Company. OPAP Cyprus gave the general hospital six dialysis machines, a Reverse Osmosis System, six special chairs for dialysis and fully covered the costs for the operation of the dialysis machines,” he said.

PAP Medical donated two dialysis machines.

“We owe them many thanks, because even during extremely difficult times for our society and country they are giving the message of altruism and above all love for their fellow man who is suffering,” Petrides said.

Concluding his speech, Petrides thanked all of the staff of the general hospital for contributing to the operation of the new dialysis facility.
