Killed in early morning crash

A 32-YEAR-OLD man was killed and his 38-year-old passenger seriously injured early on Friday after the man crashed his car on the Nicosia to Troodos road near Kakopetria, police said.

At around 3.20am Asimakis Ioannou lost control of his car which then veered off the road throwing both him and his 38-year-old Bulgarian passenger from the vehicle.

They were both taken to Nicosia GeneralHospital where doctors confirmed Ioannou’s death. The 38-year-old was seriously injured but her life is not in danger.

Neither was wearing their seat-belts at the time of the accident, police said.

Morphou traffic department is investigating the cause of the accident.
