Famagusta hospital blood appeal

Famagusta General Hospital is calling on the public to donate blood as reserves are currently running low.

“Due to the low number of people coming in to donate blood and a number of recent incidents where blood was needed, we have some shortages and would like to encourage the public to come and give blood,” she said.

If shortages become critical, she explained, the hospital could bring in more blood from other hospitals in other districts.

“We require blood for all blood groups, mainly the negative groups. Unfortunately people need reminding that they need to come and give blood,” she said.

Famagusta General Hospital’s blood bank is open from Monday to Friday, from 7.30am until 2.30pm.
