A 69-year-old woman died on Thursday after she was hit by a vehicle driven by a tourist on the Prastio to Pahna road in the Limassol district,

Aphroditi Mouzouri was trying to cross the road just after 11am when she was hit by a mini bus driven by a 56-year-old German visitor.

The woman, who was in the area with her husband and a friend, died on the spot, police said.

“It appears the vehicle was travelling at somewhat high speed, which however did not exceed the limit,” Limassol traffic police Emilios Kafas said.

The driver was arrested and was being questioned.
