Arrest for drugs possession

A 20-year-old man was arrested on Monday for disturbing the peace and possession of drugs, a police report said.

Two Nicosia traffic police officers stopped a motorbike for a routine check.

During identification, it was established that the young man was wanted by police for incidents of misdemeanour, disturbing the peace, assault and battery, which took place on February 20 at the GSP stadium in Nicosia.

Following a body search, seven grammes of cannabis were found and confiscated, said police.

The 20-year-old resisted arrest and was detained after due physical force was exerted, officers claim. In searching his home, a further 1.5 grammes of cannabis was found and confiscated.

Nicosia CID and drug squad YKAN are investigating the case.
