Aerial spraying in Larnaca to curb mosquitoes

Larnaca municipality, in cooperation with the Forestry department, will be conducting aerial spraying to alleviate the issue of mosquitoes in its salt lake areas on Thursday and Friday.

In a written statement, the municipality said that the sprayings “have been approved by the Agriculture ministry’s Department of Environment and the Public Health Services and will be carried out from 6.30 am to 9.30 am.”

“To enhance effectiveness, the spraying will be conducted from a low altitude and will employ biological materials,” the statement said.

According to the municipality informed citizens that the Forestry department’s plane, a yellow AirTractor 802 bearing the registration number FD-1, will be used.

During the sprayings, the statement said, the nature trail from Kamares to the salt lake army camp will be closed to the public.
