A minute with Vanessa Avgousti Recent winner of the Miss Cyprus pole dance competition

Where do you live?
In Nicosia with my mum

Best childhood memory?
Running away with my sister and getting into trouble. Although we were grounded afterwards it was so much worth it.

Most frequented restaurant and absolute favourite dish?
The Market Company (Old Nicosia), I love the haloumi dishes and I can’t resist the tuna sashimi.

What did you have for breakfast?
Scrambled eggs on toast.

Would you class yourself as a day or night person? What’s your idea of the perfect night/day out?
I’m definitely a night owl! My idea of a perfect night would be dinner, drinks and dancing.

Best book ever read?
I mostly read scientific books and very difficult to find a favourite one.

Favourite film of all time?
Serendipity, the film’s theme that fate conquers all relates to me. I believe that everything happens for a reason, even if we are not aware of that reason at the time, and that in the end it will work out.

Favourite holiday destination?
Island hopping in Greece with my boyfriend. The coastal breezes are good for the soul and when you relax, your creative and emotional sides come to the fore and you become open to ideas.

What music are you listening to in the car at the moment?
London Grammar

What is always in your fridge?
Peanut butter and bananas.

Dream house: rural retreat or urban dwelling? Where would it be, what would it be like?
Rural retreat, a beach house with a wooden deck with a sea view, so I can hear serenity of the splashing waves every night before I go to sleep.

If you could pick anyone at all (alive or dead) to go out for the evening with, who would it be?
Jenyne Butterfly, I absolutely love her dance and technique, her strength and passion and believe I can learn so much from her.

If the world is ending in 24 hours what would you do?
Spend time with my loved ones and dance for one final time.

What is your greatest fear?
To not be able to dance again.

Tell me a joke…
I would but I do not know any good ones.
