Bar review: Arola Lounge Bar, Limassol

By Stephanie Robb

Arola is a relatively new bar on the Limassol scene yet has caused quite a stir by organising many successful weekend events. And during the week it’s a great spot to sit back, relax and let go of all the stress.

Boasting a modern setting with low lighting and superbly comfortable seating, it is bound to transport you to a world of relaxation where you can enjoy a variety of beers and cocktails that can be accompanied with a variety of platters and great shisha. Moreover, the friendly staff, who are there to assist with anything, make the experience all the more enjoyable.

To all champagne cocktail lovers out there, Arola is one of the best places to be, offering a large variety starting from the standard options of a Bellini and a Mimosa and reaching some interesting options like the Vanilla Rose Champagne and the Tropical Champagne. While the Bellini is a great choice, I would skip the Mimosa as the juice fell a little flat for my taste. The Tropical Champagne that is teamed with dark rum, orange juice, maraschino syrup and fresh lime juice is also an amazing and delicious option.

If you are a fan of other types of cocktail, there is a wide range of long drinks and Martini cocktails to choose from. Some of the most interesting choices are the Strawberry Cheesecake and the Super Mario. The former is made with vodka, cranberry juice, strawberry puree and cookie syrup while the later is made with vodka, lime cordial, triple sec, orange, cranberry and pineapple juice and a dash of grenadine. Both will tickle your taste buds. However, the standards such as Mojitos, Margaritas and Martinis are not missing either.

Those who don’t share the excitement of cocktails also have their fair share of beer with Keo, Carlsberg, Stella and Corona all sold on the premises, which can be enjoyed with a great Mexican platter that consists of chicken fajitas, buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks, breaded prawns, wedges and a choice of two dips.

Unfortunately though, draft beer is not available.

Arola is a great place for a quite night out during the week and a more exciting night during the weekends. The only unfortunate thing is that to enjoy its lovely cocktails, and have more than one, as most usually do it can cost.
