Archbishop Chrysostomos crossed to the north with other religious leaders on Saturday to attend a lunch hosted by Mufti Talip Atalay.
Along with Chrysostomos, the lunch was attended by Maronite Archbishop Youssef Soueif, Armenian Orthodox Diocesan Council President Sebouh Tavitian, Latin Patriarchal Vicar Fr. George Kraj, President of the Religious Social Democrats in Sweden Peter Weiderud, Swedish Ambassador Klas Gierow and also UN Special Representative Lisa Buttenheim.
Atalay called in an historic day and said that significant steps in the religious sphere had been taken to bring hope for the future.
He said the religious leaders were trying to avoid the use of political language as much as possible in their efforts to improve confidence and trust between the two sides.
Chrysostomos expressed the will of the religious leaders to cooperate in order to facilitate conciliation between all the peoples of Cyprus; Greeks, Turks, Maronites and Armenians.
