Defence Minister Christoforos Fokaides and Chief of the Greek Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Christos Manolas, who is in Cyprus to participate in the FINABEL meeting, met on Wednesday and discussed issues concerning the cooperation of Cyprus and Greece in the field of defence.
During the meeting they also reviewed strategic issues concerning the armed forces of the two countries, as well as geopolitical developments in the Southeastern Mediterranean.
Fokaides briefed Manolas on the latest developments in the Cyprus problem, pointing out that the government`s aim was to reach a viable solution that would secure the survival of Cypriot Hellenism.
Fokaides said he intends to visit Athens soon, at the invitation of his Greek counterpart. (CNA)
