Nicosia district selects graduates to man polling stations

By Staff reporter

THE Nicosia District Administration (NDA) offices held a public draw on Tuesday to decide which unemployed university graduates will be staffing polling stations in the May 25 European parliament elections.

The list of all those selected is posted on the NDA’s website . Only the graduates’ ID card number is posted and according to a representative of the NDA, all selected graduates will be notified via text to bring to NDA headquarters a copy of their degree and a bank account number for payment purposes.

Anyone who fails to do so will be rejected without a second notification and the next graduate on the list will be contacted, said the representative.

Selected graduates have until May 2 to comply with NDA requirements.

The selected individuals will undergo training and will have to work at any polling station in their district, designated by the local returning officer.

Some 2,000 unemployed graduates staffed polling stations in last year’s presidential elections.
