Greek man extradited to Cyprus to face drugs charges

A Greek national was extradited to Cyprus on Friday night in connection with drug trafficking charges, following a request by the Cypriot authorities, police said.

A police spokesman confirmed that the man was arrested in Greece on February 16, 2014, after a European warrant for his arrest had been issued on November 25, 2013, for illegally importing and possessing 25 kilos of cannabis and 178 grammes of hashish.

Following his arrest, in compliance with the warrant the Greek authorities arranged for the man to be extradited, escorted by Cyprus drug enforcement officers who were specially flown to Athens.
