Paphos water supply restored after cut

Major damage in the pipe network caused a cut-off of water supply to the town of Paphos for two days, according to the Cyprus News Agency on Saturday.

Mayor Savvas Vergas said  that, although the damage had been fixed, the water cut period was prolonged by the fact that all the municipality’s tanks had been emptied and some time was required before normal supply could resume.

Vergas expressed his dismay at the Water Department’s failure to notify the local authorities in time and warned that in light of the upcoming tourist season such incidents would not be acceptable.
