Remanded for theft of hotel bikes

A 50-YEAR OLD man from Limassol has been remanded in custody for four days in connection with the theft of 18 bikes from an Ayia Napa hotel on April 29, police said on Saturday.

Police arrested the 50-year-old man on May 1, after he was identified on CCTV footage.

Police raided the man’s home where they found three bikes and a pair of car licence plates.

According to the report, the bikes were stolen between 9:00 pm and 11:00 pm on April 29. The man was seen approaching the bikes, breaking the locks they were secured with and loading them into a van.

The man was easily identified, the report said, since he had been in trouble with the police before.

The bikes’ estimated worth is around €4,000 while damage to the locks is estimated at €150.
