Pensioner arrested for threatening coffee shop owner

A 79-year-old man was arrested on Monday night after he threatened a 58-year-old coffee shop owner with a knife, police said.

According to the police report, the 79-year-old visited the 58-year-old’s coffee shop at around 8pm and accused his wife of stealing €25,000 the man claimed he was carrying around in his pocket. The 58-year-old protested and the pensioner pulled a knife out and threatened him.

Police were notified and the older man was arrested. The report notes that when asked about the money, the 79-year-old claimed it was much more than the €25,000 he originally mentioned.

He was later released.
