Bottled tap water?

A 74-year-old man was detained on Monday night, on suspicion that the bottled water his company was selling was in fact tap water, police said.

According to a police statement, the man was caught by officers, acting on a tip-off, while he was filling up water bottles from a tap on his premises.

The man told the police that he was merely washing the bottles and not filling them up with tap water.

Police said they found 30 sealed bottles of water in the store. All bottles were confiscated and sent to the State General Laboratory for tests.

The man was released after being questioned by the police.
