Cyprus wins silver in European Shooting Championship

The Limassol shooting range hosted the 47th FITASC European Championship from May 29th to June 1st where the Cypriot team claimed an impressive silver medal win on home soil.

The team event consisted of four players from each nation and the Cypriot group put in an excellent effort, claiming 691 points in total to finish second only to a far more experienced French side, who finished with a score of 703, and six points clear of the Great British team which came third.

In the individual open category, Petros Ioannou was the highest Cypriot ranked competitor, earning a sixth place finish in the standings with an overall score of 182/200.

The Sporting European Championship and European Cup Final are included in the official calendar of the International Sporting Federation FITASC.
The same range, located near the village of Armenochori just 10 kilometres from the city, was also the home of the 2005 European and 2008 World Sporting Championships.
