Annual Red Cross campaign raises €240,000

MORE than €240,000 was raised this year in the Red Cross door-to-door campaign, the organisation’s president Fotini Papadopoulou said on Wednesday.

The former first lady said the fact that contributions rose more than 30 per cent in a particularly difficult year, said a lot and expressed her gratitude to the ordinary people who even gave money from their savings.

“It allows us to keep hope alive,” she said.

Papadopoulou said the annual fundraiser has long been the main source of income for the Cyprus Red Cross and failing those in need had not been an option, she said.
