Arrest for spate of thefts in old Nicosia

A 28-YEAR-OLD man from Nicosia has been arrested on suspicion of being involved in six cases of theft committed between June 7 and 10 in old Nicosia.

Police said two people had reported on Tuesday that while they were shopping in store in the old town, one had €20 stolen and the second a mobile phone.

On the same day a woman said that 23 tee shirts and €500 was stolen from her  car, which was parked outside an elementary school.

In another complaint a shop selling cosmetics reported that perfume worth €131 had been stolen from the premises.

Two other women had their mobile phones stolen from a nightclub.

Police said they found evidence leading to the suspect and when his house was searched they found the stolen items, they said.
