International first for Larnaca tattoo studio

A local tattoo studio came out first in an international tattoo convention, held in Ajax Hotel in Limassol over the holiday weekend.

Tattoo artists from “Larnaka Ink” won the competition for the standard “Black and Grey design,” submitting a tattoo featuring famed actor Bella Lugosi as vampire count Mora in the 1935 horror film “Mark of the Vampire.”

An international panel of judges awarded first place to the Cyprus tattoo studio, preferring their work to the work of major tattoo studios from the UK, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

Elena, the tattoo artist running the Larnaca-based studio, said that she was “over the moon”, adding that she pleased that their work was recognised by an international panel.

The two-day event was packed, with thousands of tattoo enthusiasts flocking to admire the various artists work.

This marked the first Cyprus International Tattoo convention but its success almost guarantees that the convention is on its way of becoming an annual event.
