A second fire in two days at the Athalassa park in Nicosia may have been malicious, authorities said on Wednesday.
The fire broke out on Tuesday night around 8.30pm and burned around 100 square metres of undergrowth before being extinguished by firemen. It also slightly damaged the trunks of several trees.
Firemen believe the blaze was the result of arson after they spotted a man fleeing the scene and after shouting at him to stop he kept going.
They now believe Monday night’s fire, which destroyed 150 square metres of undergrowth may also have been arson.
