11 arrests in police operation in Larnaca

Police in Larnaca on Friday launched an operation at 5am to check on the town’s nightlife.
In total 150 officers from the police rapid response unit MMAD, police commandos (EAO) and the emergency response unit (EOMO) took part in the operation, launched on the basis of 27 arrest warrants against those involved in cabarets, pubs and night clubs in the town.
Until now 11 people have been arrested, including one in Kornos, who had a loaded pistol. He is expected to be taken to Larnaca District Court today to be remanded in police custody.
Police said they had spent days planning the operation.
