Second psychiatrist appointed to central prisons

A second psychiatrist has been tasked with aiding medical personnel at the Nicosia Central Prisons, the health ministry said on Monday.

The moves come after Acting Central Prisons Governor Eleni Vatyliotou said last week there was a need for proper psychiatric support for inmates, following a new suicide attempt at the facility.

The new appointment, was effective from last Saturday on the instructions of Health Minister Philippos Patsalas.
