The hotel is due to be built by the Phinikoudes coastal strip

A six-year-old boy from Palestine is said to be in serious condition after he almost drowned in the sea in Larnaca on Wednesday.

The boy was being treated in the children’s intensive care unit of the Makarios Hospital in Nicosia but no information about his current condition was immediately available.

The boy, who was at the Phinikoudes beach in Larnaca at around 4.30pm with his two siblings, his father and grandfather, was carried away by a wave and swallowed a lot of water.

He was pulled out of the sea by other swimmers and he was given first aid by his father and lifeguards.

The child was rushed to Larnaca general hospital but due to the seriousness of his condition he was transferred to Makarios hospital in Nicosia.
