Hollywood Limassol style

A MINI TASTE of Hollywood is heading Limassol’s way when it inaugurates the “Cyprus Walk of Fame” on Wednesday.
The Walk of Fame was conceived in 2012 by the municipality of Limassol to celebrate Cypriot accomplishments, promote Limassol as the “cultural capital city” and create a permanent tourist attraction in downtown Limassol, which is currently undergoing an economic revival. The Russian company Cyprus Walk of Fame Ltd is co-partner of the scheme.
Plaques in the form of stars, designed by Russian Anton Shappo, will display information about an inductee’s life and contribution to the community and will be embedded in the sidewalk.
A selection committee, coordinated by the municipality will review nominations in six categories: arts and entertainments; sport and recreation; agriculture, business and industry; civic and community leadership; education and literature, and medicine, science and technology.
The nomination process is open to all interested people and/or organisations and residents are strongly encouraged to make a nomination.
The inauguration ceremony will begin with a press conference at Theatro Ena in Limassol, following the presentation of the two first plaques at Demitri Mitropoulou Street.
