A 65-year-old man was caught by police driving on the wrong side of the Paphos to Limassol motorway on Thursday evening.

Police said a patrol car spotted the car in the wrong lane headed to Limassol at around 9pm.

The car was intercepted near Pissouri where officers found that it was being driven by a 65-year-old man from a Limassol district village.

The man was arrested and charged in writing before he was released.

Police detained a Vietnamese woman who was with the 65-year-old at the time after she failed to provide any documents to prove her identity.

It later transpired that the 24-year-old woman had been reported for abandoning her workplace in May.
