Police seize steroids from Greece (updated)

Police have seized a large quantity of steroids found in the possession of a Greek man who arrived from Athens just before midnight on Thursday.

The man, 43, was arrested after customs and drug squad offices found two boxes full of steroids in his luggage.

He was later remanded in custody for seven days pending the investigation of the case.

The court heard that authorities found 477 boxes containing ampoules, 65 boxes with tablets, and 20 boxes containing small sachets.

The suspect said he was planning to sell the steroids to people involved in bodybuilding.

Police said the man admitted importing steroids twice before in recent days but refused to provide more details concerning his clients.

Searches will be conducted at gyms in Larnaca in a bid to find evidence linked to the case, the court heard.
