Petrol station owner returns sum after petrol paid for twice

Petrol station owner Kyriacos Louca spent hours in front of his station’s closed circuit records to locate a car owner and return the extra €20 his employees unknowingly received for the petrol pumped into his car.
According to Louca, on Saturday when he realised that his station in Strovolos got paid twice for the same petrol he searched the station’s close circuit records to find the car and notify its owner.
When he located the car, he went to the police and asked them to help him locate the car’s owner, who was contacted by a policeman and told that Louca wanted to return the extra €20.
The car’s owner, who knew nothing of the incident, said the car was driven by his daughter.
As it turned out, his daughter paid the employee who pumped the petrol and her passenger, who went inside the shop, also paid for the petrol but neither was aware of the other’s actions.
“It’s no big deal to me” Louca said adding that it happened before.
“It doesn’t happen every day but yes it did happen before; the one person doesn’t want the other to know they paid and in the end they both pay, one at the cash register and the other pays the employee outside,” Louca said.
He explained that in the case this happens he follows the same procedure; he finds the car’s number plates and goes to the police.
