Two 24 year-olds arrested after car chase

Two 24 year-olds have been arrested in Paphos for alleged drug possession and injuring two police officers after a car chase.

According to police, the pair were stopped at the traffic lights at Ellados Avenue and Tassos Papadopoulou Avenue on Sunday night.

Police asked to do a routine check of the vehicle, but the two tried to escape and led police on a high-speed chase during which they collided with two police vehicles.

Still trying to escape, the driver then drove on the pavement, crashed into a traffic sign and continued on into oncoming traffic, hitting another car and finally coming to a halt.

Police searched their vehicle and said they found 10 grammes of what was believed to be cannabis, 13 grammes of a white powder believed to be cocaine, a cannabis joint, a precision scale and a razor blade.

The injured officers were taken to Paphos hospital and received first aid.
