Baggage handler injured at Larnaca airport

A 50-year-old Greek Cypriot working at Larnaca airport has been hospitalized after being hit by a luggage transport vehicle, sustaining head and leg injures.

According to police, at around 2.40am on Wednesday, while loading baggage on an aircraft, in his attempt to disconnect the vehicle from the aircraft’s luggage container, the driver hit the 50-year-old who was standing close by.

The man was taken by ambulance to Larnaca General Hospital where he was held in for treatment. His condition is not life threatening.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Civil Aviation Department in collaboration with Hermes Airports.
