A minute with Stella Georgiadou Singer

Where do you live?
Now I live in Larnaca after 25 years of living in Athens-Greece. I was living with my husband until we separated our lives. (I don’t like the word divorce- cause we are still very good friends)

Best childhood memory?
As a child I loved travelling with my parents all over Cyprus. I remember one summer that we went for holidays in the mountains staying in Prodromos village, walking around singing, saying stories!

Most frequented restaurant and absolute favourite dish?
Except from Cyprus cuisine I like Asian! I love Indian or Chinese or Japanese dishes. My favourite is the Matsuhisa Black cod.

What did you have for breakfast?
Today I had figs from our yard, with mama’s Halloumi and mama’s bread! I feel blessed.

Would you class yourself as a day or night person? What’s your idea of the perfect night/day out?
I am a day person! I love going out, walking in the forest and smelling, touching, watching the treasures we are lucky to have. The sun, the mountains, the villages etc. The perfect day out for me is driving with the car to an unknown destination… I love adventures.

Best book ever read?
Meditations by Marcus Aurilious. It’s saying the right way to live our lives so we can be happy. It’s a book based in the Ancient Greeks philosophy.

Favourite film of all time?
Oh… So hard to decide. So many great movies. I’ll say ‘Singing in The Rain’ with Gene Kelly. It makes me feel happy. I need happiness in my life.

Favourite holiday destination? What’s your dream trip?
Greek islands are the most beautiful place in the world. Travelling with a yacht from island to island was my best memory ever. It’s a unique experience. My dream trip is far far away. Bora Bora in Pacific French Polynesia.

What music are you listening to in the car at the moment?
Usually I listen to the radio, soft music. Driving relaxes me. So I choose old Greek or English songs with great melodies.

What is always in your fridge?
Fruit, halloumi, black bread, vegetables, eggs.

Dream house: rural retreat or urban dwelling? Where would it be, what would it be like?
My dream house is close to nature. Near a forest and not far from the sea. It’s simple and not big. It has all the facilities for a happy living. A lot of fruit trees and vegetables. A few chickens and a swimming pool.

If you could pick anyone at all (alive or dead) to go out for the evening with, who would it be?
Fred Astaire! We would go out and dance dance dance!

If the world is ending in 24 hours what would you do?
I would be with my family and friends at the beach watching the sunset listening to Maria Callas, wine!!!

What is your greatest fear?
People don’t care about the environment and nature. They destroy it every day with out thinking that after us, other people will live here. And these people are our children and grandchildren that they won’t be able to drink clean water, eat healthy food, breathe fresh air, swim in clean sea and so many other things.

Tell me a joke…
“I believe that you love me because my father left me €10.000.000
“Honey it’s not true. I love you whoever left you the money.
