Eide due in Cyprus on Tuesday

UN Special Adviser Espen Barth Eide

Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General Espen Barth Eide arrives on the island Tuesday evening, where on Wednesday he will hold his first joint meeting with the leaders of the two communities.

According to a statement by the SG`s Good Offices Mission in Cyprus, “Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu will meet in the United Nations Protected Area of Nicosia at the Good Offices Mission on Wednesday 17 September 2014 at 10am”.

Spokesman of the Good Offices Mission, Michel Bonnardeaux, told the Cyprus News Agency that Eide would attend a dinner with the two leaders on Tuesday evening at the United Nations Special Representative’s Residence at the UNPA in Nicosia, and the following day he would attend the leaders` meeting before departing on Thursday evening.

Eide will also travel to New York where Anastasiades will on September 22 meet the UN Secretary-General on the sidelines of the General Assembly.
