Two motorcyclists injured in separate accidents

Two men in their twenties were injured, one critically, in separate motorcycle accidents in the past 48 hours.

A 26-year-old man is in critical condition after his motorcycle overturned in the village of Ayios Ambrosios. Police reports on Monday said that around noon on Sunday, the 26 year-old lost control of his motorcycle causing it to flip over while driving down a rural road.

According to doctors the 26-year-old is in critical condition.  He was first taken to a private clinic in Limassol and then transferred to Limassol general hospital. Police could not confirm whether he had been wearing a helmet or not.

In the second accident, a 21-year-old from Ayia Napa is in serious but not critical condition after a taxi collided with his motorcycle, in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to the police, the 24-year-old taxi driver from Frenaros cut into the path of the motorcycle seriously injuring the 21-year-old driver at around 12.45am.

The 21-year-old was taken to the Famagusta hospital and was later transferred to the Larnaca general hospital due to the severity of his injuries. Police said he was not wearing a helmet.
