NGOs ready to support LIFE programme on ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’

NGOs have expressed their readiness to support the European programme LIFE which aims to raise awareness in the public for “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”.

The partners of LIFE held on Wednesday a consultation meeting, in Nicosia, during which interested NGOs were briefed on the actions and goals set by the programme by Green Dot Commercial Manager Sakis Theodosiou and were able to put forward practical ideas on how to more effectively conduct the campaign.

Commissioner on Volunteering and NGOs Yiannis Yiannaki pointed out the need for any action to be interactive and experiential in order to fully engage civil society as a whole.

He further pledged his office`s support to the programme.

All present NGO representatives expressed their support to the progamme and put forward their ideas on how to best proceed.

At the same time they offered to distribute or promote any material to their members and society as a whole through their own events.

The programme is co-funded by the EU LIFE+ Environment Policy and Governance programme and will take place within a period of 34 months.

Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) heads the project. Its partners include the Cyprus News Agency, Green Dot Cyprus, Fost Plus Belgium, the Department of Environment and the Pedagogic Institute.

Cyprus` Environment Commissioner and the Union of Municipalities support the project.
