Antigoni launches book on women

Antigoni Papadopoulou

FORMER MEP and Morphou Mayor Antigoni Papadopoulou has launched a book on the evolution of the Cyprus family from 1974 until today.

The book records important changes in the Cypriot family and society through the narrations of three generations of women from the same families – grandmothers, mothers and granddaughters.

The study, which is the result of a sociological qualitative research Papadopoulou conducted in the framework of her MA thesis which she presented in 2010 at the University of the Aegean, presents changes in the institution of the family through the evolution of rural family in the industrial and post-industrial eras and the challenges it faces in the constantly changing environment of globalisation.

The book costs €20, half of the proceeds of which Papadopoulou plans to donate to the charities ‘Palmos Zois’ that supports families of patients with heart diseases and the ‘Association of Greek Ladies – Mana’.
