Cypriots arrested in Greece for migrant smuggling


Three Cypriots appear to be implicated in a migrant smuggling ring busted by Greek police in Thessaloniki.

The three were arrested along with three Greeks and one Pakistani man. One of the suspects is believed to be the mastermind, reports said. No names were immediately available.

Reports said the organisation smuggled irregular migrants through Makedonia airport in Thessaloniki.

Among the suspects is a tour agency employee and airport workers handling check-ins and boarding.

Greek authorities found counterfeit passports and other documents in the suspects’ possession.
