Where do you live?
With our children in Limassol, Cyprus, which we are proud to call home
Best childhood memory?
Julia: Just before New Year’s Eve, I remember once sitting by the frosted window, waiting for my sister to return from her university classes to go together to the opening of the New Year’s festivities at the local park gardens.
I was sitting and carefully observing the way and the sequence in which the Christmas lights were dancing on the Christmas tree outside of our family home. The air was bristling with New Year’s excitement and magic and I was intoxicated by its exuberance! I so wanted to be there – outside, in the frosted air, beside the dreamlike Christmas tree!
Then the door-bell rings, I grab the snow sledge and there I am, outside, in the winter wonderland! This feeling of excitement, a wish coming true, an apprehension of Christmas magic and fairy tale like atmosphere, brings back the warmest childhood memories.
Andrey: My best childhood memories are also connected to spending time with my family, celebrating New Year’s and unwrapping the Christmas presents.
Most frequented restaurant and absolute favourite dish?
Andrey & Julia: The best meal is a meal at home. We love a good steak or fish accompanied with a fine wine and cheese, but prefer to leave out the cooking part.
What did you have for breakfast?
Julia: Oats, cafe-latte with a cupcake, a piece of chocolate and an apple.
Andrey: Eggs, oats and pomegranate juice.
Would you class yourself as a day or night person? What’s your idea of the perfect night/day out?
Julia: I am 100% a day person. A perfect night for me is a night spent in bed. Though, I do enjoy going out to visit a quality performance, especially if it is a good rock concert.
Andrey: I would agree – I am a day personas well.
Best book ever read?
Julia: The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, and Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. These books are timeless, for all ages.
Favourite film of all time?
Julia: Mama Mia!. I love Meryl Streep and musicals. This particular musical I have watched on many stages – Broadway, in London and in Moscow.
Andrey: A Beautiful Mind. An absolutely beautiful film flawlessly executed which provides a rare and original insight into the mind of a genius.
Favourite holiday destination (or best holiday ever taken)? What’s your dream trip?
Andrey: Capri Island on the south of the Gulf of Naples in the Campania region of Italy. This was our honeymoon destination, and we tend to return to the beautiful island every time. The island is quite small and peaceful, surrounded by the tranquility of the Mediterranean – a perfect destination for a getaway with your other half.
What music are you listening to in the car at the moment?
Julia: Caro Emerald. But I mostly prefer rock singers.
Andrey: I share the same passion for rock music, too. But I do enjoy rap music as well.
What is always in your fridge?
Julia: Chocolate and various chocolate candies and sweets.
Dream house: rural retreat or urban dwelling? Where would it be, what would it be like?
Julia: In spite of living all my life in Kazan city center near the Kremlin, I believe that a house with a big garden somewhere away from the city buzz could be my ideal home.
Andrey: I agree with Julia.
If you could pick anyone at all (alive or dead) to go out for the evening with, who would it be?
If the world was ending in 24 hours what would you do?
Andrey: I would spend these last few hours with my family.
Julia: I would do the same.
What is your greatest fear?
Julia: It’s fear for my family, for their health and well-being.
Tell me a joke…
Andrey: I’d rather end with a quote I like – “Charity is injurious unless it helps the recipient to become independent of it.” (John D. Rockefeller)
