Injured from drug bust fall

A 33-year-old Limassol man, trying to evade police searching for drugs, fell nine metres off the roof of a building on Tuesday, suffering fractures to various parts of his body.

Police eventually found some 900 grammes of cannabis on the man. They also arrested a 37-year-old, whose flat they had raided, prompting the first suspect to hide on the roof of the three-storey building.

During the search of the flat, police found a small quantity of cannabis and a number of tablets and vials believed to be steroids.

They also seized several mobile phones.

Officers located the first suspect hiding behind the water tanks on the roof. He tried to escape when he saw the officers by jumping off the roof. His fall was broken by laundry lines, according to the police report.

The man was rushed to Limassol General hospital where he is being hospitalised under guard.
