Arrested for cigar smuggling

POLICE arrested four persons in connection with a suspected cigar smuggling case.

Police sources told the Cyprus Mail that officers arrested two cigar importers, 48 and 41, followed by the arrest of two Customs officers, 58 and 35.

According to the sources, the four appear to have conspired to deceive the Customs Department, by reporting a much lower volume of cigars than what was actually imported.

All four are expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court today.
