Manufacturing output down 3pct y-o-y in August

Manufacturing production fell 3.0 per cent year-on-year in August to 54.8 points, as most manufacturing sectors saw their production decline, the statistical service said.

Overall industrial output fell in August an annual 0.5 per cent to 66.8 points, Cystat said in a statement on its website today.

Output in mining and quarrying fell 28 per cent in August compared to a year before to 16.8 points, while electricity production and water supply and material recovery rose 2.4 per cent and 12.8 per cent to 107.9 points and 93.4 points respectively.

Between January and August, manufacturing output fell 1.4 per cent to 70.4 points while industrial production stood at 72.4 points which was 0.8 per cent respective 2013 levels.
