A minute with Dawn Foote Volunteer Manager at Tala Monastery Cat Park


Where do you live?
Emba, Paphos with my husband Mark, Bailey our dog and lots of cats.

Best childhood memory?
Two weeks after my fourth birthday, my grandfather removing the stabilizers from the bike he bought me for my birthday and hearing his words of encouragement from behind me.

Most frequented restaurant and absolute favorite dish?
Sonny’s restaurant, Salmon Dish

What food would you really turn your nose up to?
Anything with gluten, I am intolerant

What did you have for breakfast?
Don’t have breakfast!

Would you class yourself as a day or night person? What’s your idea of the perfect night/day out?
Day person. I spend 7 days a week at the cat park so a day off would be my ideal day, spent with friends having a nice meal with like minded people.

Best book ever read?
Any Martina Cole book. The Graft was one of my favorites.

Favourite film of all time?
Grease, saw it at the movies 15 times when I was a child. Adore John Travolta

Favourite holiday destination? What’s your dream trip?
Before we came to Cyprus to live it had to be Cyprus… Now living the dream every day. Now, dream trip would be to a desert island with hundreds of cats!

What music are you listening to in the car at the moment?
My ipod, music from the 60s to present day. I love music and don’t ever think I could live without it.

What is always in your fridge?
Ice T

Dream house: rural retreat or urban dwelling? Where would it be, what would it be like?
Rural retreat, quite village, one café, one shop, small house with lots of land surrounded by animals.

If you could pick anyone at all (alive or dead) to go out for the evening with, who would it be?
George Michael, love his music and he’s a big cat lover.

If the world is ending in 24 hours what would you do?
Be with my husband and friends at the cat park loving all our babies.

What is your greatest fear?
Not being able to provide for the 450 cats and kittens we have in our care and having to return to the UK.

Tell me a joke…
My wife will buy anything marked down. Last week she bought an escalator!
