Foiled robbery in Paralimni

Police were investigating an attempted robbery on Thursday, which was thwarted when a man brandishing a knife was chased away by an off-duty police officer.

Authorities said a man entered a kiosk in Paralimni holding a knife at 1.45am, demanding the owner give him all the money in the till. The owner refused, and an immigration police officer in the premises at the time gave chase, but failed to arrest the suspect.

Police said they were monitoring a closed-circuit camera system which documented the incident in an attempt to arrest the suspect.
