Hermes Airports on Thursday announced the operation of automatic-electronic gates at Larnaca airport.
“This is the first phase of the implementation of an automated system which is located in the departures area and allows the traveling public, when carrying a printed copy of the airline’s boarding pass, to proceed directly to security check and then to the shops and the departure gates of the terminal,” Hermes said.
It said the process of using this system was very simple and only required the scanning of the boarding pass of each passenger. It also said disabled passengers would not have any mobility issues with the system.
The operation of the new e-gates for Boarding Pass Access Control also includes a second phase service which will be available to the public soon, ‘Fast Track’, which is used by many airports around the world allows passengers who pay a small fee to enjoy direct and quick entry to the departure gates, thus avoiding the long queues during peak hours.
