Biden discusses Cyprus with Davutoglu

The Cyprus problem was on the agenda of a meeting the US Vice President Joe Biden had on Friday with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, in Turkey.
Joe Biden arrived in Istanbul Friday night and headed for Davutoglu`s office in Dolmabahce, where the Turkish Premier hosted a dinner in honour of his guest.
“Vice President Joe Biden met with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to discuss the fight against ISIL in Iraq and Syria, the Cyprus settlement talks, and energy security,” the US State Department said in a press release.
“The two leaders agreed on the need to degrade and defeat ISIL, to work towards a political transition in Syria, and provide support for the Iraqi Security Forces and the moderate Syrian opposition” it added.
The Vice President of the United States is expected to discuss the Cyprus problem also with the Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan at a meeting scheduled for Saturday. (CNA)
