A minute with Maria Theodorou Professional musician and music instructor

Where do you live?
I live in Nicosia with my partner and my dog

Best childhood memory?
Playing hide and seek with my cousins in a green field full of tall corn right across my house

Most frequented restaurant and absolute favourite dish? What food would you really turn your nose up to?
My favourite restaurant is Sushi La! My favourite dish… hmmm tough question! It goes without saying I love mum and dad’s food, but also my grandmother’s koupepia! Ha ha ha I am a foodie! What I refuse to eat is black eyed peas and very spicy food.

What did you have for breakfast?
A few grapes and coffee on the go!

Would you class yourself as a day or night person? What’s your idea of the perfect night/day out?
I am definitely a night person! I hate mornings! I find it hard to wake up… if I’m left undisturbed, I might sleep until 3 in the afternoon! In the nights even if I’m feeling sleepy I will always find something to do to keep me up until late. Now for instance it is 2.37am! As for the perfect night out what can I say? There is no such a thing, it depends on my mood! I might stay at home with my boyfriend or be in good company wherever I am! The same goes for a perfect day!

Best book ever read?
The best book I’ve read so far is Gogo Antzoletaki’s ‘I fili sou Rozalia’ (Your friend Rozalia). It is basically a very well written story that causes infinite emotions… it goes without saying that I was crying while reading it!

Favourite film of all time?
The Notebook… simply because I’m a romantic soul!

Favourite holiday destination (or best holiday ever taken) and why? What’s your dream trip?
Favourite holidays… I love Paris and Vienna because until today they are among the most beautiful cities I’ve been to. I felt like there was magic in the air in both of them! My dream trip is to visit Las Vegas with a specific company!

What music are you listening to in the car at the moment?
I listen to Kiss fm! 🙂

What is always in your fridge?

Dream house: rural retreat or urban dwelling? Where would it be, what would it be like?
I would prefer a countryside refuge not far from the city to be able to have easy access to civilisation! Ha ha ha! It would look like a doll-house, with a lot of wood element, a fireplace and a garden! I prefer that because I need my peace and quite away from the stress and noise of the city.

If you could pick anyone at all (alive or dead) to go out for the evening with, who would it be?
Maria Callas and Whitney Houston because I simply adore them. They are both very important performers, each in a different kind of music of course.

If the world is ending in 24 hours what would you do?
I would be with my loved ones! Is there anything more important than that?

What is your greatest fear?
To lose people I consider my own, I mean to die…

Maria is currently taking part in Nikos Karvelas’ rock opera The Bells of Edelweiss starring Anna Vissi in Athens from January until March and she was also a chorus member in Mozart’s opera Cosi fan Tutte at the Paphos Aphrodite Festival in September
