Bar review: Cambana Booze and Cuisine, Limassol

By Stephanie Robb

Saripolou square has long been the staple when it comes to choosing a Limassol bar for an evening of drinking and relaxing and what better place to go than a bar that boasts of the reason you are there? It is there to serve you booze and in the best way possible – with an array of signature cocktails.

Cambana is located at the in the middle of Saripolou square and almost escapes notice in the overwhelming hustle and bustle during busy weekends. But let’s be honest, Saripolou and Cambana are not for the faint-hearted. It usually gets busy and that is what its great about it. However, if you just want to enjoy a drink you can choose to go earlier in the evening or during the weekdays. Moreover, Cambana separates itself from the pack with its industrial atmosphere and nude colour pallet, making it inviting to all that pass.

Cambana is all about its cocktails, you cannot go there and not try one. Be daring and try one of the signature ones, rather than the old classics. The Berry Bush will satisfy those with a taste for berries and to sweet cocktails. It is made with fresh blackberries, pomegranate juice, passion fruit, blackcurrant schnapps, fresh lime and cambana homemade juice mixed with vodka. Served beautifully, the cocktail is exciting just to look at. Another great is the Lacoste, which jumps out at you begging for a taste. It’s made with melon liquor, gin, fresh ginger root, fresh cucumber, pepper, passion fruit schnapps and ginger ale and guarantees a taste explosion. But also the most intriguing of the cocktails I found is the Machallepi, which goes back to its Cypriot roots, and it’s made with vodka, sake, milk and rose homemade syrup and is guaranteed to give you a burst of taste from tradition.

All these cocktails are best enjoyed with a meat or cheese platter or even the establishment favourite, the Cambana Tower burger.

All in all, Cambana is a great place for a drink that is certain to satisfy even the pickiest of taste pallets at affordable prices. And the live shows every Thursday and Sunday are certain to delight.
