‘Don’t launch any flying machine without approval’ civil aviation says


The Department of Civil Aviation, on Thursday called on anyone planning to launch anything into the sky to seek prior approval.

“In response to the interest shown by individuals, organised groups, and the educational and research community, activities and events related to flights of helicopters, light aircraft, balloons, and unmanned drones, fall within the scope of [civil aviation] legislation,” the department said.

“ All flights operated by any kind of flying machine within Cyprus territory is governed by regulations, standards, and procedures for the safe operation of aircraft and the protection of the public.”
