Five new mobile blood donation vehicles for health ministry

Five state-of-the-art mobile blood donation vehicles were given to the health ministry on Thursday by lottery operator OPAP Cyprus.

The vehicles were handed over to Health Minister Phillipos Patsalis at the Engomi health centre in Nicosia by the CEO of OPAP Cyprus, Demitris Aletraris.

Patsalis, after expressing his gratitude, spoke about the importance of donating blood. “The generous donation of OPAP Cyprus will increase the capacity of the ministry to visit rural towns and village,” he said.

Every year in Cyprus 60,000 units of blood are donated, which Patsalis said was high in proportion to the population. Each of the new vehicles can accommodate six donors at a time.
