Do you remember writing a letter to Santa when you were young? That one letter in the whole year that you would spend hours on, making sure you used your best handwriting? Perhaps the most magical process of the letter to Santa was writing on the envelope ‘to the North Pole’ or hand delivering it to the man himself while sitting on his knee, just to make sure he remembered what you had asked for.
We all have memories of getting what we wanted and the joy it brought us on Christmas day, but this year Santa might not be able to bring every child what they ask for because the economic crisis has even reached all the way to the North Pole.
But children don’t think in euro signs and paying bills, they believe in magic and the man with the big belly. And as children are always on the nice list (or stay on the naughty list only for a short while), The Andrey & Julia Dashin Foundation is accepting letters to Santa to help parents… we mean Santa, fulfill every child’s wish this year and make sure that little faces carry a smile.
So get your little ones writing their letter on an A4 piece of paper and address it to Santa Claus and send it to the foundation. Every child will receive a gift, just as long as the request is not too extravagant, and even if this is the case, a replacement gift will be sent.
Children of all ages can send in a hand-written letter in any format. It can also carry any theme your little child’s heart desires and illustrations and pictures to go along with the letter are very welcome. Parents or guardians must complete a consent form and send it along with the letter, which can be found at http://www.dashinfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Application-Form_EN.pdf.
The letter can be sent by traditional post, email or fax.
Once the foundation receives the letter it will be replied to immediately but the gift will be sent between December 22-24, December 29-31, January 5-7 and January 12-14. If you live in Limassol you can go to the foundation and pick up your child’s gift, but do call them first and make an appointment. But if you are in another city don’t worry, the foundation can arrange delivery by courier to a specific address.
But that is not all, the foundation will also be holding a competition for the best letter and illustration of Santa Claus. The lucky winner will get their present and a visit from the man in red himself. So make sure you have lots of mince pies at home to treat Santa and go to the foundation’s website between December 19 and 25, where the winner will be announced.
