Foreign Minister to attend FAC and GAC in Brussels

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulides is in Brussels to attend the Foreign Affairs (FAC) and General Affairs (GAC) Councils.

The FAC will take place today Monday.

On the agenda of FAC is the situation in Syria, Iraq, Ukraine and Western Balkans. The Ministers will also be briefed on the developments on the fight against Ebola.

During a working lunch, the FMs will discuss developments in Libya and will be briefed by UNSG Envoy, Bernardino Leon.

Earlier on December 15, FM Kasoulides will be attending a meeting of Ukraine Friendship Group, in the presence of the FM of Ukraine.

On Tuesday Kasoulides will be attending the GAC which is going to discuss, inter alia, enlargement and partnership issues. The Ministers will also discuss the EC President €315 billion investment plan. It will also adopt conclusions on ensuring respect for the rule of law.

The Commission will present to the Council the annual growth survey and the incoming Latvian presidency will present a roadmap for the 2015 semester. As a follow-up to the June European Council, the Council`s agenda will include a thematic debate on strategic agenda priorities.
